The World Series of Poker 2009 is underway and so far there are many great stories to tell. Thomas Alenius and Phil Ivey grab the headlines of this year’s tournament in the Rio casino resort, Las Vegas. Thomas Alenius won event 26 of WSOP while Phil Ivey wins another WSOP bracelet. Event 26 WSOP – Thomas Alenius Wins
Thomas Alenius won event 26 of the 2009 WSOP. With a buy in of $1500 for the Limit Hold’ Em tournament and 643 opponents it wasn’t easy for Alenius. He recently another tournament but this was his first win in WSOP, so he got his first gold bracelet. It took him two long days 15 poker players were left in the final day and managed to beat them all.
Six players were left at the table after just 2 levels of poker play and Al Barbieri was the chip leader with over $1 million. It finally went down to 3 players, Barbeiri, Alenius, and Jason Tam. By that stage Tam was chip leader. Alenius turned his fortune around with some good hands and a large pot and finally won it with a nice prize of $197,488… and the gold bracelet.
Phil Ivey Wins WSOP Bracelet
In the Omaha Seven Card Stud HL tournament, Phil Ivey won again to add bracelet number 7 to his other 6 in the WSOP. The final table included other famous poker players such as Chad Brown, Blair Rodman, Steve Wong, Dutch Boyd, John Turner, and Carlos Mortensen. The legend of poker, Ivy, is participated in WSOP many times and with his skill, knowledge and determination he managed to win it again. Out of 375 players, he was number 1 again. Vegas went dilly in the Rio casino resort where this event took place. It took Ivy 3 days to dislodge his opponents and with triple Queens he beat Ming Lee in the final round.
