The third time round has been the good one for the young Justin Bonomo. Last Wednesday in Las Vegas he won his first major title in a poker tournament, the WSOP Circuit Event. It was not his first time at the final table, he made it there in 2008 and in 2007, reaching the fifth and the fourth place. But this time proved to be the right one.
Sitting at the final table with Bonomo were other big names of the poker scene like Dwyte Pilgrim, 2009 WSOPC Harrah’s Rincon winner, Matt Graham the 2008 WSOP bracelet holder, Matt Brady and Men “The Master” Nguyen, who was holding the highest number of WSOPC gold rings among the players, and Michael Mizrachi, “The Grinder”.
The atmosphere at Caesars Palace, for one of the last WSOP Circuit Event of the season, was highly charged and Justin had to fight in a four heads-up battle with a strong Mizrachi to grab the victory. The battle lasted for eight endless hours, with more than 100 hands and the lead jumping from one player to the other many times. Finally, an exhausted Bonomo, was able to defeat his tough opponent and walk away with $227,692 and a seat in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.
Las Vegas resident Bonomo is 23 years old but he is not a newcomer to major poker tournaments. When he was only 19, he was the youngest player that was able to take a seat in an international poker tournament, the 2005 EPT French Open. In only 4 years of poker playing he has already earned more than $2 millions at betting in poker and is not going to stop soon. Poker in US is just heating up: the WSOP Circuit will end at Harrah’s, New Orleans between the 7th and the 21st of May. Immediately after, on 27th, the World Series of Poker will began. So stay tuned on US poker.
